Go-Go Dancer Motor City Dive Bar NYC
I love dive bars in NYC. The low lighting, the music, the random conversations with the most interesting people in the world.
Motor City bar sadly doesn't exist anymore. Goodbye to the Go-Go dancers and Detroit memorabilia. This particular night was their last night of existence. It was crowded, noisy and awesome. A lot of people came by to support their dive bar with beers in hand and a story to tell of late nights of drunken debauchery and morning hangovers.
(Soapbox moment) Dive bars bring liveliness to a neighborhood. Often, when wealthier people move in and buy up the real estate, artists are displaced. Who wants a boring street with no character? If you do, then you should rethink your vision of the streets of NYC. We need to support our dive bars. When the rich move in, buying buildings and imposing unrealistic rents, the bar owners are forced to leave. And there goes the idiosyncratic charm that originally attracted people.
"It's art in a glass, Go-Go shaking her ass while I sit back and reminisce about the good times we've had."
