Purple Disco Prospect Park
I love pictures that have movement and that are not entirely clear. I'm not afraid to have a picture that has blur in it and to emphasize that I use a slower shutter speed. If you do you need a steady hand to make sure the walls aren't blurry too. If you notice the laptop is clear but the DJ isn't. This is why it's important to shoot with your camera set to manual. Don't let your camera dictate your art, you should be in control. If I were to have my camera set to automatic I wouldn't get this image. And thats because the automatic setting would say this isn't correct.
I was behind the DJ and waited for the perfect moment to snap this picture. I wanted certain people to be in a certain place and that's pretty much a gut reaction. When you're shooting live action you can anticipate but it also helps to be in a good position so when that magic does happen you can capture it.
When I look at this picture I can hear the music the DJ in silhouette is playing. It's a beautiful night at Prospect Park Roller Rink and I'm lucky to have taken this picture.
